City to Complete Asphalt Pavement Crack Sealing Beginning October 15
The City of Evanston will be completing asphalt pavement crack sealing at 18 locations throughout the city beginning October 15, with work expected to take two to three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
This project involves grinding out sections of longitudinal and transverse cracks that have reflected through to the surface. Once the cracks are “routed”, a fluid rubberized sealing material is injected back into the crack to seal it against water infiltration. This is an important step in preserving pavement infrastructure.

Drivers should expect short delays in specific work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. "No Parking" restrictions will be short in duration and specific to each work area. The work in each location should take one to four hours to complete. Street sweeping of the debris typically occurs the day after the crack sealing is done. Street locations will be immediately ready for traffic once the process is complete.
Contractor The contractor for this project is Patriot Pavement Maintenance, 825 Segers Rd. Des Plaines, IL 60016.
City Monitoring This project is monitored by the City's Bureau of Public Services. For questions or concerns, please contact project manager Don Cornelius at 847-866-2944. Questions about general street maintenance should be directed to Edgar Cano, Bureau Chief of Public Services, at 3-1-1.
