Evanston Fire Department Hosts Open House for Fire Prevention Week

EVANSTON, IL - On Sunday, October 4, the Evanston Fire Department will host a Fire Prevention Open House at Fire Department Headquarters, 909 Lake Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. This event is in recognition of Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 4 -10. All are welcome to attend this fun-filled annual event.
Planned activities include:
- Auto extrication demonstration
- Dive rescue communications
- Technical rescue demonstration
- Kitchen safety demonstration
- Children’s Firefighter Challenge Course
- Side-by-side flashover demonstration
- Fire and life safety education for the entire family
This year, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Fire Prevention Week theme is “Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen".
The campaign works to educate everyone about simple, but important, actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safe.
This event will require social distancing and use of masks. If it rains or inclement weather presents, this program will be cancelled by 9 a.m. with an announcement posted on the Fire Department Facebook and Twitter accounts.
