Ald. Peter Braithwaite “We Are One Community”
 Goodbye Officer Napier, Hello Officer Brooks!
Our current ward officer, Reggie Napier, will be retiring. Please join me in thanking Officer Napier for his service to the community and wishing him the best in the future.
Our new ward officer is Otha Brooks. Officer Otha Brooks joined the Evanston Police Department in 2004. He has worked all shifts with his longest tenure being on the midnight shift. Officer Brooks has held many roles within the police department including Evidence Technician, Rifle Officer, and Foot Patrol. He joined the Community Policing Unit in 2016 and has been involved in a variety of projects and community outreach events including National Night Out, the Citizen Police Academy, and Police Explorers. Officer Brooks is also a certified bike officer and can often be seen out patrolling the city and lakefront on his bicycle. He looks forward to serving the 2nd ward and getting to further know the citizens in the area.

 Robert Crown Ribbon Cutting on Saturday
Join elected officials, City staff, neighbors and community partners for a ribbon cutting ceremony and dedication to celebrate the completion of the Robert Crown Community Center & Library project on Sat., Oct. 3, 10 a.m., at Robert Crown Park, Field Number 2. Face coverings are required.
 Celebrate National Night Out in the 2nd Ward!
Take a public stance against crime by attending "National Night Out" in the 2nd Ward on Tues., Oct. 6! Join me at Mason Park, Church Street at Florence Avenue, for a Starlight showing of Black Panther, beginning at dusk (6:50 p.m.)
First Responders Open House: You can also join the Evanston Fire Department and Evanston Police Department for a First Responders Open House on Sunday, Oct. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 909 Lake St. Kicking off Fire Prevention Week (this year's theme is "Serving Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen), this Open House will include a presentation on kitchen safety.
 There's still time to fill out the 2020 Census! Our community could miss out on $15,000 in federal funds over a decade for each uncounted resident. These funds are what help improve important programs like social services and education. Head to my2020census.gov to fill out the Census today!
