Status of Howard Street, Dodge Avenue and other construction in the 8th Ward
Howard Sttreet water main from Target to Dodge Ave. The new water main and water service is complete. Concrete patch on the trenches is complete. The asphalt patching over the concrete started today and will be complete by Monday. Roadway striping and clean up will be completed by Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. Street parking will be available by Thursday on Howard St. from Target entrance to Dodge Ave.
Howard St water main from Asbury Ave. to Ridge Ave. The new water main installation is complete. Water main testing and chlorination is complete. The water service transfer is scheduled for the week of September 1. The trench and street restoration should be complete by early October.
Status of work on Dodge Ave from Oakton Ave. to Howard St. The water main and service from Mulford to Dodge is complete. Street grinding and level binder has been completed. Final asphalt surface is scheduled for next week.
Status of any other road work being done in the 8th Ward The Callan Ave. (Mulford to Hull Ter.) resurfacing started this week with tree and root pruning. The concrete work is planned for next week. The street resurfacing will be complete by mid-September on Callan Ave.

Early voting and vote by mail information
Early Voting for the Presidential Election on November 3, 2020 will take place between October 19 and November 2 at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Avenue, Rm. G300. More details.
The safest place to get a vote by mail application is through the Cook County Clerk's Office.
Secure drop boxes will be located at over 50 early voting sites spread throughout Cook County where voters can drop off their completed mail ballots if they do not want to use USPS.

Community Budget Conversations The City will hold a series of Community Budget Conversations about the 2021 Budget process. The meetings will be held via Zoom video conference, with registration required. Each meeting will share information about the budget process in general as well as about a specific topic as noted below.

 Evanston turns on the tap to Lincolnwood
Last week, Evanston and Lincolnwood celebrated the completion of the Lincolnwood water supply project! The Village is the 10th community to be supplied with Evanston drinking water. Cheers, Lincolnwood!
Did you know? Evanston now supplies water to more than 400,000 customers in the region.
City secures $4+ million in COVID-19 grants
The City has secured more than $4 million in local, state and federal grant funding to support critical public health services and community assistance programs as part of its response to COVID-19. Funds will reimburse the City for a variety of pandemic-related costs, including providing contact tracing, housing, emergency medical and transportation services, infection prevention and control, and more.

Save time and pay your 2021 wheel tax online
Residents can now pay for their 2021 City of Evanston wheel tax, residential parking permits, and residential parking passes. As a reminder, the wheel tax must be paid by Wed., Sept. 30.
Renewal letters have been mailed with an online renewal link code and instructions. Online payment is strongly encouraged this year due to the pandemic; the Morton Civic Center remains closed.
 Save the date for Bike the Ridge on September 20
Bike the Ridge will take place on Sun., Sept. 20 this year from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Howard St. and Church St. Plans are underway to make it a COVID-19 safe event. Save the date! More information to come later.
Reparations Subcommittee's Virtual Town Hall
Evanston residents are invited to join the City's Reparations Subcommittee for an Town Hall on Thurs., Aug. 27, at 7 p.m.
During the webinar, members of the subcommittee will provide updates on the Subcommittee's progress. The keynote speaker will be Spencer Jourdain with other guest speakers including Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Danny Glover.
Residents must register to join the Town Hall. This webinar has participation capacity limits, so residents are encouraged to register early. Following registration, participants will receive a confirmation email with information needed to join the meeting.
Northwestern University will host a Community Town Hall Meeting to discuss its Return to Campus Plan on Tues., Aug. 25, at 5 p.m. Residents are invited to join this virtual meeting!
