Voting and the 19th Amendment
This month we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, granting women the right to vote. Although suffrage leaders* ignored the needs of Black, Indigenous, and other women of color, the passing of the amendment began the incomplete journey of voting rights for all. We recommend this new book about unsung women of color in the movement: Finish the Fight! The Brave and Revolutionary Women who Fought for the Right to Vote. Reserve your copy of Finish the Fight! and read a review.
Watch this brief video about the historic women’s suffrage march on Washington in 1913, which led directly to the amendment.
