Self-checkout helps maintain social distancing.
The Main Library is open and we take your safety seriously. Some of the safety precautions you can expect include:
- Face coverings required to enter the building. (Age 2 and older.)
- Your temperature will be taken at the entrance.
- All patrons must keep masks over nose and mouth at all times; this is a requirement to use the facilities. (Those who do not have a mask will be given one.)
- Social distancing of at least 6 feet will be enforced.
- Equipment, tables, and chairs will be disinfected regularly.
- Use of restrooms is limited to one person or family at a time.
- Re-shelving of books by patrons is not allowed. Patrons must place any books they touch into bins provided. These materials will be quarantined for at least 4 days.
- Mostly self-service and self-checkout.
- Capacity limits will be maintained.

- We have eliminated fines on overdue library materials. Research shows that a fine free policy helps build a better relationship with the community while removing the financial penalties that can discourage library use. (*Fees still apply for replacement of lost materials.)
- Have you noticed books remaining on your account after they've been returned? No worries. To maintain safe handling of all materials, we are quarantining items when returned. Items may show on your account up to two weeks after returning them. In addition, overdue notices are automated. You may receive an overdue notice while your returned books are in processing. We appreciate your patience.
