Dear Levy Senior Center members, patrons, and Evanston residents,
We are committed to the health and safety of all those who utilize our services. Therefore, we are planning a phased reopening of the Levy Senior Center and a phased renewal of programs and services. We are following and will continue to follow recommendations issued by the Evanston Health Department, Illinois Department on Aging, CDC, and Illinois Department of Public Health. We plan to reopen on Mon., Aug. 31 at 8:30 a.m.
Our staff is committed to continuing to provide limited in person programs, virtual programs, activities and discussion groups, as well as some possible outdoor programming and activities to help combat isolation.
You'll find answers to some frequently asked questions below.
COVID-19 Precautions within the Levy Senior Center
- Everyone who enters the building will be subject to temperature check and wellness screening questions prior to admittance.
- Masks MUST be worn in the Levy Center at ALL TIMES.
- Patrons MUST maintain social distancing of six feet from others at all times
- High touch areas are cleaned every 2 hours.
Front Desk, Building & Registration Information
- The Levy Senior Center front office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- While in person registration is available at the front desk, online and phone registration is strongly encouraged.
- Tentatively, the Fitness Center will reopen Mon., Sept. 14. More information will be forthcoming.
- There will be no indoor lap walking until further notice.
- The building will be closed evenings and weekends to the public. For evening and weekend programs, the facility will only be open to those participants.
- Yard waste stickers can be purchased online, in person or at Jewel-Osco, Home Depot or Valli Produce.
- Until further notice, the Levy Senior Center will only be accepting plastic film to be placed in the recycling container in the foyer. The Levy Senior Center will not be accepting light bulbs and electronics.
- Until further notice, the computer lab will remain closed.
- Until further notice, The Levy Senior Center will not be accepting any item donations for the "free table/lending library" in the lobby.
- The lobby will remain closed until further notice. No meetings or congregating will be permitted.
- The Levy Senior Center Bus service to and from the center will be on hold until further notice.
Memberships, Programs and Services
- Limited in person programs as well as virtual programs will resume the week of September.
- One on one personal training is currently available. If you're interested in personal training, please contact Bob Russo at 847-448-8283.
- Benefit access counseling will be done via phone by appointment only. For more information, call 847-448-8250.
- SHIP counseling is currently available by phone. Call Tim Carter at 847-448-8293 to make an appointment.
- Levy Senior Center day trips, Shower Singers and Choraleers programs have been suspended until further notice.
- All Levy Senior Center and fitness memberships expiring between March 12 and September 13, have been extended accordingly. Memberships will resume September 1.
- Payments for cancelled programs have been credited to your account.
- The Senior Congregate Meal Program will remain grab and go. Beginning September 1, on Tuesdays of each week, participants will be given five day frozen meal packs. Seniors enrolled in the program at the Levy Senior Center and Fleetwood Jourdain Center will need to call by 5 p.m. the Wednesday before Tuesday distribution. Call 847-448-8250 to RSVP for the meal pack. Meals will only be given out to those who make a reservation. No food will be served or consumed inside the building.
- The Fall 2020 program guide is anticipated to be released in late August.
Rentals
- Due to IDPH and CDC guidelines, the Levy Senior Center is able to hold rentals with strict modifications. Please contact Bob Russo, program coordinator, at rrusso@cityofevanston.org or by phone 847-448-8283.
