Coronavirus updates
Situation Report, July 23
Below, you’ll find the latest COVID-19 data from the City’s Health and Human Services Department. Visit the City’s interactive COVID-19 dashboard (view on mobile) for metrics updated daily.
Confirmed daily cases
The average number of confirmed daily cases per day has remained steady over the last month. There was an average of 2.71 new cases per day over the last seven-day operational period, a slight increase from the previous seven-day period, which averaged 2.43 new cases per day. Evanston long-term care facilities (LTCFs) reported zero new cases over the last week. This is positive news, as residents of long-term care facilities have been most vulnerable to serious illness or death resulting from COVID-19.
To date, Evanston has had 846 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 32 of those cases currently active. Seventy-one Evanston residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19. There were no COVID-19 deaths reported over the last week.
Hospital admissions and testing
COVID-19 hospital admissions have remained low since decreasing during the month of June. The City’s seven-day moving average daily test positivity rate (the percentage of those tested who tested positive for COVID-19 over a seven-day period) increased from 0.75 percent last week to 1.09 percent this week, but remains significantly below the 4 percent seven-day positivity rate reported in Illinois’ Northeast Region, which includes Evanston.
Age and racial demographic data
Cumulative test positivity rates again decreased among all age and racial demographic groups this week:
