Hello neighbors!
I'm looking for 9th Ward residents' feedback on community safety. Your input is helpful for me so that I can best represent my constituents.
I also highly encourage 9th Ward residents to sign-up for our upcoming Restorative Justice Overview sessions that will take place via zoom on Sat., July 25 or Wed., July 29.
Community Safety
During our joint meeting with the 6th Ward on July 21, residents requested an opportunity to share their ideas on community safety and policing.
9th Ward residents: Please use this form to share your thoughts with me. As I said above, your input is very helpful for me to be able to best represent you.
For more information on ways to "Imagine..." public safety, please check out the bottom of the page under the form: cicelylfleming.com/community-safety.
Sneak Peek
Overview of Restorative Justice Practices
Two options for 9th ward residents:
-
Sat., July 25 from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
-
Wed., July 29 from 7 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.
Please join Jennifer Viets for an overview presentation on Restorative Justice and Restorative Practices. As we look for alternatives to resolving conflict in our communities we must explore options that emphasize true safety over control. This begins with building strong relationships with people in our homes, neighborhoods and city. The practice of sitting in Circle to proactively build relationships and to responsively repair harm when there has been conflict is one such alternative. Some of the questions we will explore include:
-
What are the origins of this work?
-
What is the difference between Restorative Justice in community and Restorative Practices?
-
What are the six Restorative Questions that center on repair of harm?
-
What is the role of a Circle-Keeper?
