EVANSTON, IL -On Sunday, July 19, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Evanston firefighters from Fire Station 3, shift 1, will be giving away ice cream to kids at C&W Market and Ice Cream Parlor, located at 1901 Church St., while supplies last.
This year, due to COVID-19, many local businesses and residents donated meals to Evanston firefighters to show their appreciation and thanks. Evanston firefighters pay $15 a day, per shift for their daily food needs, which usually includes lunch and dinner. Remaining funds are put into the shift "kitty" for special meals, such as holiday dinners, promotions or retirements. This year, thanks to the generosity of the community, Fire Station 3 was able to deposit a little more into their "kitty," and would like to share that generosity with the community through an ice cream social.
Evanston firefighters teamed up with the owners of C&W Market and Ice Cream Parlor, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver, to provide their famous ice cream at the event. July 19 also happens to be National Ice Cream Day, so it’s the perfect day to come out and enjoy a tasty treat from some of your local Evanston firefighters. Fire Station 3 will donate $200 toward this cause, and ice cream will be passed out to kids by Engine and Truck 23 members as long as supplies last! All attendees over two years old should wear a face covering while in line and should practice physical distancing.
