Phase 4 Public Health Reminders
It's critical that we all continue to take preventive actions to reduce the spread of COVID-19, including:
- Stay home when sick
- Practice strict physical distancing when in public
- Wear a cloth face covering when a six-foot distance from others is difficult to maintain
- Wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily
- Cover coughs and sneezes
Together, we can continue on a path towards a safe recovery.
Safe Reopening
The City is working within the guidelines of the State’s Restore Illinois plan to get back to a new normal of work and recreation, while prioritizing the health and safety of residents and staff. Visit the City’s Safe Reopening web page for the status and reopening schedule for City facilities, amenities and programs.
Please note that the City is awaiting further guidelines from IDPH regarding the use of playgrounds. We will provide an update as soon as available.

Don’t forget to wear a face covering and keep a healthy six-foot distance from others when visiting your favorite Evanston businesses! Visit the City's reCOVERevanston web page for more.
Contact tracing
The City's Health and Human Services Department conducts contact tracing to track and reduce the spread of COVID-19 by reaching out to individuals who may have contracted or been exposed to the virus, and providing education and instructions for quarantining and monitoring symptoms. Staff will call and leave a voicemail, and may follow up with a letter or email if a phone response is not received.
Avoid scams
Contact tracers will never request financial account information or social security numbers, ask for immigration status, or threaten consequences if you do not participate. If you receive a call or voicemail from an unknown number and want to verify that it was the Health and Human Services Department, email health@cityofevanston.org or call/text 847-448-4311.
Thanks for reading. Have a safe weekend.
Sincerely,
The City of Evanston Communications Team
