Good evening,
Read below for a COVID-19 situation report, a list of LGBTQIA resources from the Evanston Public Library, information about the 2020 Census, virtual July 4 festivities, and more.
As a reminder, you can find the latest Evanston-specific COVID-19 updates on the City's website.
COVID-19 Situation Report
Thanks to a communitywide effort, Evanston continues to make progress in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Below, you’ll find some of the latest COVID-19 data from the City’s Health and Human Services Department. Visit the City’s updated COVID-19 dashboard (view on mobile) for additional information and metrics.
Daily confirmed cases
The average number of daily confirmed COVID-19 cases has continued to decrease in Evanston. Over the last seven days, the City reported an average of approximately three new cases per day. For the seven days prior, there were approximately six new cases per day.

Confirmed COVID-19 deaths
Sadly, the City has reported 10 COVID-19 fatalities over the last week. To date, 59 Evanston residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19, including 45 residents of long-term care facilities.
With 11 IDPH-licensed long-term care facilities and more than 1,300 beds, Evanston has a significantly larger long-term care facility population than nearly all surrounding suburbs. Older adults are at the highest risk for serious illness or death from COVID-19, and the City and State have prioritized supporting these facilities in their COVID-19 response, providing personal protective equipment (PPE), guidance, training and education to limit the spread of COVID-19 in these communities.
Hospital admissions
The number of COVID-19 hospital admissions has flattened over the last week, remaining at its lowest level since early April.

Testing
The City’s seven-day moving average daily test positivity rate (the percentage of those tested who tested positive for COVID-19 over a seven-day period) continues to trend downward, decreasing to 2.71 percent on June 10. This is positive news, especially as the number of daily tests administered has remained high.
Last week, IDPH announced that State community-based COVID-19 testing sites are now open to all people, regardless of symptoms. No appointment, doctor referral, or insurance is needed at State-operated drive-thru sites, and testing is available at no cost to individuals.
The closest community-based testing sites to Evanston include:
Harwood Heights 6959 W. Forest Preserve Rd., Chicago 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Rolling Meadows High School 2901 Central Rd., Rolling Meadows 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The IDPH recommends that those who have participated in a recent mass gathering, such as a march or rally, get tested 5 to 7 days after the event, or immediately if symptoms develop.
The City is working with local healthcare partners to establish additional COVID-19 testing sites in Evanston. Learn more about COVID-19 testing.
