Chicago Man Charged with Eight Counts of Burglary to Motor Vehicle
EVANSTON, IL - On May 20, 2020, Evanston Detectives charged Trevor Grimm with eight counts of Burglary to Motor Vehicle. The charges were the result of an extensive investigation into eight separate vehicle burglaries that occurred at The Home Depot (2201 Oakton) parking lot. These burglaries occurred between December of 2019, and late January of 2020.
During the investigation, it was determined that multiple vehicles had been burglarized on eight separate dates. All of these burglaries involved contractor vehicles being opened/entered and tools being removed while the owners were inside the Home Depot.
Evanston Police Detectives investigated all eight incidents. Witness interviews, review of video surveillance, and forensic analysis of evidence were part of the investigations. During the course of the investigations it became apparent that all burglaries were being committed by the same suspect. The suspect was eventually identified as Trevor Grimm.
Evanston Police Detectives worked with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office during this investigation. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Grimm on April 21, 2020. The arrest warrant was served on May 20, 2020, and Grimm was charged with the burglaries.
