Citywide Asphalt Pavement Patching to Begin May 18

The City of Evanston will be patching large areas of asphalt pavement at approximately 180 locations throughout the City in order to improve the conditions of nearly 27,300 square yards of pavement. This project is anticipated to begin the week of May 18 and to be completed within three weeks, weather permitting.

Work at most locations should only take a few hours with a few exceptions where larger areas of pavement will be resurfaced. This project will involve removing the top two inches of distressed and failing asphalt and replacing it with a fresh, smooth asphalt surface material. Once the asphalt is laid, compacted and cooled, the street will be opened and ready for traffic.

During construction, motorists should expect minor delays near work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crew. "No Parking" restrictions for this project should be short in duration and specific to the daily work zones. The "No Parking" signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of when the restriction is enforced and will be removed as soon as work is completed.
