Evanston Man Charged with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm
 EVANSTON, IL - On April 27, 2020, at approximately 12:47 p.m. Evanston Police Officers responded to the area of Howard and Chicago Ave., after receiving a call that a female had been shot in the chest. Upon officers arrival there were no victims or offenders at the location. Approximately 10 minutes after the original shots fired call a 28 year old Evanston resident arrived at Evanston Hospital with gun shot wounds to her right arm and chest.
Officers and Detectives investigated and learned that the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Howard. Victim was the passenger in a vehicle, when another vehicle pulled alongside the vehicle she was traveling in and opened fire. The victim was struck twice and was driven to the hospital.
Detectives conducted an investigation that included interviewing the victim, and witnesses along with reviewing surveillance footage. Elijah Murphy was identified as the offender in the shooting. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Murphy. Murphy was subsequently taken into custody in Bloomington Illinois yesterday.
Evanston Police Detectives worked with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office during this investigation. On May 11, 2020, Murphy was charged with the shooting of the victim.

Murphy is being held in Cook County Jail on $500,000 bond. The next court date is May 28, at 1:30 p.m. in room 105 at the Skokie Courthouse.
