Good afternoon,
Read below for information about the City's Face Covering Order, upcoming Coronavirus Q&As, and the Downtown Evanston Farmers' Market Kickoff.
Cover your face. Help save lives.
Beginning today, all persons working in or patronizing essential businesses and operations in Evanston must wear a cloth face covering to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
When do I have to wear a cloth face covering? Face coverings must be worn by those working in or patronizing essential businesses, engaging in essential activities, such as visiting a healthcare provider, or riding in public transportation, taxis or ride share vehicles.
When do I not have to wear a cloth face covering? Face coverings are not required when engaging in a permissible outdoor physical activity, riding in a personal vehicle, or in private with members of the same household.
Are there any exceptions? Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under the age of 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the covering without assistance.
What if I don't have a face covering? If you don't have access to a face covering, a simple cloth face covering made at home will work. You can also use a scarf, bandana, t-shirt, or towel. Make sure to follow the CDC's guidelines on how to fit and wear your cloth face covering. Many local businesses, such as Assembly Creators and Evanston Stitchworks, are also selling them. Please call 311 if you do not have any means of getting a face covering.
