The City—in partnership with Northwestern, Districts 65 and 202, Interfaith Action, Valli Produce and the Greater Chicago Food Depository—distributed 16,000 meals and over 700 boxes of food to Evanston residents in need this week! Thank you to everyone supporting our community during this difficult time.

Evanston responds to COVID-19
The City has been working diligently and proactively to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in Evanston.
Emergency management: After declaring a Local State of Emergency, the City established an Incident Command System to organize its emergency response and activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to provide centralized coordination of information and resources. Mayor's City Council update: At Monday night's City Council meeting, Mayor Hagerty provided the community with an update on the City's COVID-19 response and progress made in Evanston. Read his remarks.
Celebrate Earth Week
The City is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22, 2020) with a weeklong virtual celebration, April 19 through 26. Join in on "Earth Week" fun by participating in daily environmental-themed events and activities hosted by the City's Office of Sustainability and the Evanston Ecology Center. Learn More.

Evanston is ahead of the state average but trailing some of our neighboring communities in our 2020 Census response rate. You can help by encouraging everyone you know to respond and be counted. Let's make sure Evanston receives its fair share of funding!
Two more ways to support Evanston businesses
Join the Evanston business community on Sat., April 25 for the Evanston Shop Local Gift Card Day. Hosted by Downtown Evanston, this promotion encourages residents to support local businesses by purchasing gift cards.
You can also help the local retail community by purchasing Evanston t-shirts created by Downtown Evanston and Underground Printing. All proceeds will go back to local businesses through grants managed by Lend Evanston. T-shirts are available for purchase through May 5.
Guidance for renters during COVID-19
Are you struggling as a renter to navigate the recent challenges brought on by COVID-19? The City and the Metropolitan Tenants Organization are hosting a Renters Information Session and Q&A on Wed., April 22, at 6 p.m. Join the webinar or watch live on Facebook.
