Good afternoon,
As a reminder to all residents, Governor Pritzker has announced a statewide "Stay at Home" order to continue through April 7 in order to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Please continue to stay home except for essential activities.

Yesterday afternoon, Health and Human Services Director Ike Ogbo and Dr. Lakshmi Halasyamani from NorthShore University HealthSystem answered residents' questions regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Playgrounds are closed, parks and trails are open
Evanston parks and trails remain open for exercise during the Governor's Stay at Home Order. Residents can use these spaces, but should continue to practice social distancing. View additional recommendations on the National Recreation and Park Association's (NRPA) website.
What about park playgrounds? All playgrounds, basketball and tennis courts, and other park facilities are closed to the public.
Special City Council Meeting
The Evanston City Council will hold a Special Meeting tonight, Thurs., March 26, at 6 p.m. Due to public health concerns, residents will not be able to provide public comment in-person at the meeting. Those wishing to make public comments may submit written comments in advance.

Food and Yard Waste Collection
The City will begin weekly food and yard waste collections for the 2020 season on Wed., April 1. Collections will occur on residents' regular refuse and recycling collection day. As a reminder, food scraps can ride along with grass clippings and leaves in food and yard waste carts or can be picked up by Collective Resource, the City's exclusive food scrap hauler.

Permitting and building inspection activities suspended
Permitting and building inspection activities have been suspended until April 7, with the exception of emergencies. Previously scheduled inspections will be held until the Stay at Home Order is lifted. Plan review and permit applications can continue to be submitted to permitdesk@cityofevanston.org.
Submit your public comments
Public comments on the Environmental Review Record for the proposed Evergreen/CJE Senior Housing Project at 999-1015 Howard St. should be submitted to sflax@cityofevanston.org by 5 p.m. on April 9.
Stay creative and active at home
Even though community centers and recreation facilities are closed at this time, the Parks & Recreation Department is encouraging residents to stay creative and active at home by taking advantage of live programming and activities posted on the Parks & Recreation Facebook page.
Spring 2020 bulk trash pickups are canceled
The City has canceled spring bulk trash pickups previously scheduled during the month of April. In order to protect the health of employees, no loose, bulk items will be picked up during regular weekly collections.
Street cleaning operations continue
As a reminder, street cleaning operations will continue to help clear debris and prevent flooding. Due to the Stay at Home Order, no fines will be issued through April 12. Please move your vehicle to comply with the street cleaning schedule if you are able.
Canceled: Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Job Fair
Even though the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program Job Fair has been canceled, there are still summer jobs available to students! Those who are interested must register by March 28. Learn the next steps.
