Support for Coronavirus Bill
The Mayor's COVID-19 Task Force supports a $2 trillion Coronavirus bill that is scheduled for a vote today.
Included in the legislation
- Sends $1200 checks to many Americans, with payments phasing out for individuals with an adjusted gross income greater than $75,000, and with those making more than $99,000 ineligible
- Creates a $367 billion loan program for small businesses, and establishes a $500 billion lending fund for industries, cities, and states
- Provides $150 billion for state and local stimulus funds and $130 billion for hospitals
- Boosts Unemployment insurance benefits by expanding eligibility and offering workers an additional $600 a week for a four month period
This is the single largest "Main Street" assistance program in the history of the United States, and it needs to pass through the House and then be signed by the President.
What can we do?
We need unanimous consent for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, which she has stated she wants to happen.
Therefore, please contact our U.S. Representatives, as well as our Governor, asking for their support in passing this historic bill.
