Meetings of special interest to 7th Ward residents
Green Bay Road Improvement Project Community Meeting Thurs., Feb. 20, 7 p.m., Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.
A revised project design based on input from the December 11 community meeting will be presented for discussion and further input. A webpage with information about the project, including the presentation from the December 11 community meeting, is available here.
McCulloch Park Renovation Neighborhood Meeting Wed., March 4, 6:30 p.m., Chandler-Newberger Center, 1028 Central St.
At the February 13 neighborhood meeting, residents provided feedback on three park concepts presented by design consultants from Terra Engineering. These concepts were based on resident input from the first neighborhood meeting. On March 4, the consultants will present a proposed final concept for additional resident comment. Information about the project, including the presentations from the January 8 and February 13 neighborhood meetings, is available here on the City website.
Affordable Housing Community Workshop Thurs., March 5, 7 p.m., Parasol Room, Morton Civic Center
The City of Evanston’s Affordable Housing Plan Steering Committee invites residents to a community workshop to gather input regarding the community’s affordable housing needs and possible solutions. RSVP for this workshop or provide feedback by completing this online survey.
Transportation & Parking Committee Meeting—Consideration of Proposed Event-based Resident-only Parking Restriction Wed., March 25, 6 p.m., Room 2404, Morton Civic Center
The Transportation & Parking Committee’s consideration of the proposal to establish a Special Event Zone in the neighborhoods around the NU athletic campus and to restrict parking to zone residents during men’s basketball games, graduations, and special events at Welsh Ryan Arena has been postponed to the committee’s March meeting. Evanston Repair Clinic, February 22
Bring your broken small appliances, toys, jewelry, or other small household items to Y.O.U. Headquarters on Sat., Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Expert volunteers will be available to help you repair your items. This free event is open to all.
First ‘Cats Community Connection Event, February 29
NU’s Department of Athletics & Recreation invites ‘Cats Community Connection (CCC) members and their families to come to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sat., Feb. 29, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to cheer on the Wildcats women’s basketball team to victory and take part in a fun post-game event just for CCC members! Currently battling for a Big Ten title, the Wildcats will face Illinois in their final home game of the regular season at 1 p.m. Attendees will receive complimentary tickets to the game and the post game opportunity to shoot hoops on the court and take photos with Willie the Wildcat!
Free parking is available in the east and west Ryan Field parking lots. Enter the arena through the Wilson Club entrance (southwest corner of the building) to pick up tickets and a special giveaway. Following the game, meet in Section 105 to access the court.
