New Robert Crown Center opening soon
The long-anticipated opening is almost here! The new Robert Crown Community Center and Library will open to the public on Sat., Feb. 29 for regularly scheduled programming.
Save the date: Help us celebrate at the City's Open House and Invocation event on Sat., March 14. Tour the new facility and participate in programming activities with fellow residents. More details to come.
February happenings at Northwestern
Northwestern University is hosting multiple events open to the community during the month of February.
Legally Blonde: The Musical: Enjoy a musical take of the classic movie as Elle Woods navigates her life at Harvard Law School. Performances take place Fri., Feb. 14 through Sun., March 1.
Film Screening: Compensation: Join in for a free screening on Thurs., Feb. 27 of one of the most audacious and emotionally resonant films ever made in Chicago, telling two versions of a love story between a deaf woman and a hearing man.

Celebrate Black History Month in Evanston
February is Black History Month! Celebrate at a variety of community events in Evanston, including a "Maya’s Last Poem" stage reading on Fri., Feb. 7; "Black History Makers Up Close" conversation on Mon., Feb. 10; and "Legends of R&B," a soul-stirring concert celebrating Aretha, Etta and Luther on Sun., Feb. 23.

Habitat restoration work in Lighthouse Beach Dunes area
The first stage of habitat restoration work in the area encompassing a portion of the Lighthouse Beach dunes and Harley Clarke Mansion Council Circle is complete. Crews have removed dead and dying ash trees and non-native trees and vegetation. Replanting will continue later this spring as weather conditions improve and more trees become available.
Celebrate water as our most precious natural resource
The City is hosting a 3rd grade art contest in celebration of National Drinking Water Week (May 3-9), where students are invited to showcase their ideas of what this year's theme, “There when you need it,” means to them. The deadline for submissions is March 5.
Apply for up to $5,000 in cultural grant funding
Arts organizations are invited to apply to the City’s Cultural Fund Grant Program. Applications must be submitted online by Wed., April 1 at 5 p.m.
