The Evanston Public Library is hosting a pop-up mini library at St. Francis Hospital from Monday, November 11, through Saturday, November 16, between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Visitors can stop by to get a library card, check out books, get tech questions answered or join library staff for crafts and family activities throughout the week.

“Our goal is to engage with residents we may not usually see as we look for ways to better serve particular areas of the community, in this case wards 8 and 9 in South Evanston,” says Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons. “We want to meet more of our residents, increase awareness of the many resources the Library can offer, and hear from community members about library services they want to see.”

The St. Francis Pop-up Mini-Library will be located just opposite the information desk in the former gift shop area of St. Francis Hospital. This pop-up will provide an opportunity for anyone who drops by to familiarize themselves with Library services and enjoy activities including:

• Getting a library card (Evanston residents) or registering a non-Evanston card from another library (Chicago or Skokie, for example) at EPL  
• Checking out a selection of materials for kids, teens, and adults, including books, DVDs, audiobooks, dementia kits, and wifi hot spots.
• Learning about the Library’s downloadable and streaming services through Kanopy and Libby, and how to use electronic pop up libraries around the City.
• Discovering access to the Library’s many programs for all ages including storytimes, book discussions, mental health and wellness programs, business, law, and entrepreneur programs, and the Library’s Memory Cafe.
• Getting tech questions answered by one of the library’s technology trainers, who will be on site on Saturday, November 16, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
• Visiting the pop-up mini-library throughout the week for button making, crafts, community puzzles, and much more!

The pop-up mini library will be open Monday, November 11, through Saturday, November 16, between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm at St. Francis Hospital, 355 Ridge Avenue.
