Hearing on Proposed Zoning Change for U2 Athletic Campus, 9/11
The Plan Commission will continue its consideration of Northwestern’s proposed zoning amendment to allow additional types of uses at facilities on the U2 Athletic Campus, on Wed., Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., in the Council Chambers at the Morton Civic Center.
Northwestern is seeking revisions to the zoning code regarding “temporary events” on the U2 campus, which currently are limited to “community and cultural events of a nonprofit nature” and “amateur athletic events.” The proposed zoning amendment would allow for-profit events and professional athletic events, with attendance limited to 7,000 persons. Up to six one-day events and one multi-day event could be held in a calendar year. These provisions would expire two years after approval, unless the City Council approves a renewal of the amendment.
The proposal was first presented at the August 7 Plan Commission meeting and then continued at the request of nearby property owners to August 28. There was not a quorum for the item at that meeting, so it has now been scheduled for September 11.
Celebrate the back to school season at the 'Kits, 'Cats and Kids Block Party! Come out to Fountain Square on Thurs., Sept. 12, from 5:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., to enjoy games, arts and crafts, family-friendly activities, live music, the ETHS and NU Marching Bands, rousing pep rally-style speeches, and delicious dining options!

While Metra no longer offers ticket sales by internet, customers can visit the Metra website to view ticket prices, buying options, and schedules.
Are You Recycling Properly?
The City has launched a monthlong educational campaign to improve recycling habits and reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill.
