Don't Miss Evanston Streets Alive! 9/8
Walk, bike, play and enjoy a car-free mile of Main Street, from Chicago to Florence Avenues, during Streets Alive! on Sun., Sept. 8. The free "open streets" event will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and will feature games, crafts, activities, entertainment, and food vendors, plus the Evanston Green Living Festival.
Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony, 9/11
Join the Evanston Fire and Police Departments for a memorial ceremony at Fireman's Park, on the corner of Simpson Street and Maple Avenue, on Wed., Sept. 11, at 7:30 a.m. The ceremony will honor the brave men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Mental Health & Wellness Fair, 9/14
More than 25 local mental health organizations and practitioners will be available at the Evanston Public Library on Sat., Sept. 14, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Connect directly with these resource providers and learn more about mental health and wellness! There will also be hands-on creative arts therapy, education sessions, refreshments, and more.
Evanston Transit Alliance Social Rides, 9/14
Evanston Transit Alliance is a social group dedicated to hosting social bike rides throughout our region to explore, support local businesses and enjoy riding together. Their next ride will take place on September 14 and will explore the lakefront in Chicago, Evanston and Wilmette. Along the ride you'll hear about the history of the lakefront and enjoy stops for food and beverages.
The "Community Curation" Project Comes to Evanston, 9/21-28
Representatives from the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture will be in the Chicago area throughout September for their second "Community Curation" project. As a part of the project, The Smithsonian will be offering digitization services within their traveling Media Truck, which will be stationed behind ETHS from September 21 - 28.
Community Budget Roundtable Discussions, 9/17
The City is seeking public input on the FY2020-21 budget. Community members are encouraged to participate in one of three community budget roundtable discussions. Each meeting will begin with a brief overview of the budget process followed by small group roundtable discussions.

Community Mobile Resource Center BBQ Kickoff, 9/17
The new Community Mobile Resource Center (CMRC) is designed to bring information and resources on personal finance, law, and health directly to people and neighborhoods that are seeking them. Visit the 'Undesign the Redline' Exhibit Through October 20
The “Undesign the Redline” exhibit, created by Designing the WE, has traveled to the 2nd Floor of the Morton Civic Center and will be on display for public viewing through October 20. Learn about the history of redlining, interact with the stories, and help invent the future of undoing structural inequities.
Become Certified in the Construction Trade with Free Courses
Register for a certification course in the building and deconstruction trades. The next OSHA 10 Construction Certification Course will be October 11 - 12 and the next EPA RRP Certification Course will be October 19. Both courses are held at Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse.

Y.O.U. at ETHS offers interest-based specialty programs that provide academic support, college and career exploration, experiential learning opportunities, and much more! All programs offer students up to $250 in stipends over an 8-week period (Tues., June 11 – Fri., Aug. 2).

Applications for an apprenticeship with the Sheet Metal Workers' Local 73 are accepted every Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 2701 Van Buren St. in Bellwood, IL, from August 28 through October 30.

The City has launched a monthlong educational campaign to improve recycling habits and reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill. Learn which common items shouldn't be placed in your recycling cart at home, and how these items disrupt the sorting process, resulting in fewer items being recycled.
