Add Your Inspiration to a Travelling Collaborative Art Piece
Community Art Inspired by Love for Evanston
In a time of disconnection and violence, we can respond by creating art about connection. Everyone is invited to contribute to an evolving art piece inspired and created by our community. The piece is now on display at the Chicago Ave./Main Street Branch (CAMS) of the Evanston Public Library, 900 Chicago Avenue. All are invited to add to this dynamic, evolving fiber-art sculpture.
This sculpture began at Gather, a community art studio and creativity focused playspace in downtown Evanston, traveled to the Evanston Art Center as part of the Evanston Made Kids programming this summer, and now is on display at CAMS. Everyone is invited from now through the end of September to express what you love or value in the community and add to this collaborative installation.
Also, on Saturday, September 7 from 11 am - 2 pm, at CAMS, Angela Lyonsmith will hold a Family Art Making Workshop to teach the simple process of wrapping used in this piece. It is accessible for makers of all ages. Lyonsmith, a fiber artist and art therapist, has helped bring this creation to life as a symbol of our diverse community and tangible image of our interconnection and responsibility to each other.
