Developer Seeks Public Input On Potential 5th Ward Project
EVANSTON, IL - The prospective developer of properties located predominantly along the east side of Jackson Avenue, north of Emerson Street, will be updating the community on its project and seeking public input on the initial concepts for the proposed development.
The developer, Domanus Development Ltd., has completed an initial review of a potential development that is inclusive of several occupied residential units. Prior to completing any further pre-development activities, Ald. Robin Rue Simmons has asked that the developer attend the City’s Design and Project Review Committee and her 5th Ward meeting in April to provide an update to the community and solicit feedback.
“The developer has been working on this project for quite a while, and the site and project has changed over time. It is time for them to participate in a conversation that is inclusive of the community and share their plans publicly," said Ald. Rue Simmons. "Information has circulated throughout the community about what might occur if this project moves forward. Before this project goes any further, it is important that we understand what properties are inclusive of the project, when this project might occur, and what is potentially being planned and its impact. This conversation needs to occur publicly, so everyone has access to the same information.”
The two opportunities for this initial pre-development review include:
The Design and Project Review Committee (DAPR) on Wednesday, March 20 at 2:30 p.m. at the Morton Civic Center, Room 2404. The focus will be to review the concept development and obtain staff feedback related to the surrounding built environment, engineering, and the underlying zoning. There will be an opportunity for public comment at the meeting.
Ald. Rue Simmons’ 5th Ward meeting on Wednesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., Room G300. The focus will be to hear the developer’s presentation and to gather feedback from the community on the proposed project.
The potential project, if it moves forward, would be a planned development and would be subject to City Council approval. The development team had previously completed a zoning analysis, a required administrative review of the project and underlying zoning. No further review or work has been submitted to the City by the developer.
