EVANSTON, IL - On Friday, March 8, 2019, at 9:35 p.m. Evanston Police responded to 1827 Simpson Street for a death investigation. Officers arrived and located a man laying in the yard behind 1827 Simpson, close to Twiggs Park. The man had suffered numerous gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The victim has been identified as 33 year old Angel Miranda of the 2800 block of South Central Park Ave. Chicago, IL. Miranda was in the area visiting friends. It was Miranda's friends that discovered him and called Evanston Police.
Evanston Police received and investigated a call of shots fired in that general area approximately 90 minutes prior to his discovery. Based on the prior call of shots fired and indicators at the scene Evanston Police are investigating Miranda's death as a homicide and believe it occurred at approximately 8:00 p.m.
This appears to be an isolated incident. No one is in custody.
