EVANSTON, IL - On February 21, 2019, at 11:50 a.m. Evanston Patrol Officers responded to the 2400 block of Main St for a call of a male subject by a white Volkswagen that was possibly armed. The caller did provide a description of the subject.
Officers arrived on scene and located both the vehicle and subject. Officers interviewed to the subject and investigated the call. They learned the subject was Dwayne Johnson. Johnson told officers that he had a rifle locked in the trunk of his white Volkswagen and that he had a FOID card. Officers looked through a window into Johnson's vehicle and observed a Glock 19 9mm handgun in plainview on the floor in the back seat. Johnson stated that the handgun was loaded. Johnson was arrested.
The Glock handgun was recovered along with 9mm ammunition and an unloaded Norimco SKS 7.62 rifle from the trunk. Johnson was charged with the loaded Glock handgun but not the unloaded rifle in the trunk. He did have a FOID card but did not have a concealed carry permit.
