As part of Winter Preparedness Week, November 18 through 24, the City has issued reminders regarding snow parking information, notification methods, shoveling and more. Thank you for your assistance in keeping Evanston streets and sidewalks safe and accessible for all users this season.

Share Holiday Joy with Evanston Families

Holiday Books


Help make the holiday season merry and bright for all Evanston families by contributing to Mayor Hagerty's Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive! New this year, new and like new children's books are being collected, in addition to toys, non-perishable food items, and financial donations. Last week, Mayor Hagerty kicked off the book portion of the drive by reading a children's book at Booked on Main Street.

Evanston Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

The City of Evanston has announced changes in service delivery and facility hours for the 2018 Thanksgiving holiday. No refuse, recycling or yard waste collections will occur on Thurs., Nov. 22. Thursday collections will occur on Fri., Nov. 23. Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Sat., Nov. 24. The Morton Civic Center will be closed November 22 through 25.

Winter Composting Options Available

The City’s Food and Yard Waste Collection Services end for the season on December 13. However, residents may sign up for a winter composting program offered by Collective Resource, Inc. (CRI), the City’s exclusive food waste hauler.

Apply for LIHEAP Utility Assistance Program

LIHEAP

Seniors 60 years and older and those with disabilities may now apply for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The application period opens for other low-income households on Sat., Dec. 1.

Recycle Holiday String Lighting Starting 12/1

Holiday Lights

The City's annual holiday light recycling program will be held from Sat., Dec. 1 through Thurs., Jan. 31. This year's donations will be recycled in conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) and Elgin Recycling.
