EVANSTON, IL - The Evanston Police is partnering with Northwestern University Police Department to step up patrols and increase police presence in the area of the 1800 block of Chicago Ave. Officers will be patrolling in vehicles and on foot.

This increased deployment of police resources is in response to several incidents where female victims have experienced various levels of harassment by male offenders. These incidents have occurred within a few blocks of the 1800 block of Chicago Ave.

Please be aware of your surroundings. If you are wearing head phones please don't turn the volume up so high that you can't hear outside noises. Use public transportation or ride sharing services if you feel it is appropriate. To further increase safety NUPD is advising members of the Northwestern community to download the NUHelp Appfor available resources and to use Safe Rideand Safe Walk.

If you observe suspicious activity you are urged to contact EPD or NUPD as soon as possible so police can respond and investigate. The EPD non-emergency number is 847-866-5000. NUPD can be contacted by calling 847-491-3456. In the event of an emergency call 911.
