R. Gregory Christie

R. Gregory Christie: Children's Book Illustrator. Children’s illustrator R. Gregory Christie, winner of four Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honors, a 2017 Caldecott Honor, and a N.A.A.C.P. Image Award will delight kids and adults with an informative presentation about his art, giving listeners, both adult and child, the opportunity to hear how such an established artist works. Mr. Christie’s many acclaimed books include Freedom in Congo SquareBad News for Outlaws,The Book Itch, and many more. Saturday, November 10, 1 pm, Children's Room, Main Library. 

Chicago Quarterly Review

 

Chicago Quarterly Review Readings. Contributors to the latest issue of Chicago Quarterly Review (CQR) will read from their work in a stimulating and rewarding afternoon for lovers of the written and spoken word. CQR contributions have been reprinted by Best American Short Stories, the Pushcart Prize Anthology and Best American Essays. 

Come celebrate a quarter century of publication from this distinguished literary journal with readings from emerging and established writers. Saturday, November 10, 3 pm, Falcon Room, Main Library.

Digital and Business Literacy

Meet Our Tech Trainers. EPL offers technology training and one-on-one appointments in English and Spanish to help patrons navigate the digital world. In addition to classes taught by volunteers, such as the Thursday Tech Tutorials, two technology trainers have recently joined the library staff to help patrons build  computer skills: Craig Stevenson and Sergio Gonzalez. Digital literacy programs at EPL are funded in part by the Evanston Community Foundation.

The Digital Library. Haven't tried e-books yet? There's a whole world out there. Actually, there's a whole world of digital books right here. Reading print is great and reading from an iPad, digital reader, or even your phone can be a useful addition to your reading repertoire.  If help is needed, stop in or give us a call at 847-448-8620.
