EVANSTON, ILLINOIS - Captain Pat Novak has announced his retirement from the Evanston Fire Department after 23 years of dedicated service. Since joining the EFD on September 11, 1995, Captain Novak has served the City of Evanston and the department with honor and dedication.

Community members are invited to join the department and Captain Novak for a flag lowering ceremony on Wednesday, September 26, 2:30 p.m., at Fire Headquarters, 909 Lake St.

Captain Novak began his career of public service in 1986 as a combat medic with the US Army National Guard. He built upon that experience to honorably serve the residents of Evanston for the past 23 years. Over that time, Captain Novak has served as the treasurer of Local 742, a trustee of the Evanston Foreign Fire Tax Board, and finished his career as a captain in the Fire Prevention Bureau.

"Captain Novak has always been a dedicated firefighter, paramedic and fire officer who helped advance the department’s mission of life safety, especially in the areas of fire prevention and code enforcement," said Chief Brian Scott. "Whether it be personally or professionally, Pat was always most motivated and committed to serving others. We wish him well in retirement."

The Evanston Fire Department would like to wish Pat a happy and healthy retirement and all the best with his future endeavors.
