September is Library Card Sign-up Month, an American Library Association- supported event for libraries across the nation. It’s a time to remind everyone that signing up for a library card is a key step towards academic achievement, lifelong learning, and civic engagement.
The Evanston Public Library is reaching out to all members of the community to remind them that everyone can benefit from the many free resources and services the EPL has to offer. Library representatives will be present in a number of community locations to offer materials in English and Spanish as well as to provide an easy way to sign up for library cards, replace lost cards, or update library accounts.
“This month we are making a concerted effort to reach out to
as many places and people in our community as possible,” says Karen Danczak
Lyons, Library Director. “A library card is your free ticket to a world of resources,
services, and events. Libraries are an essential part of our democratic society, a
place where you can find culture and company and interact with people from
other generations, cultures, and walks of life.”
Library staff will be available at these times and Evanston locations,
as well as at the Main and branch libraries, to sign people up for library cards and share information about Library services and resources:
