 EVANSTON, IL - On June 25, 2018 at 7:28 p.m. in the 2000 block of Main an Evanston Police Officer stopped a white Jeep for expired registration. The officer made contact with the driver, Enrique Mora Morales. A back-up officer arrived.
Officers detected an odor of cannabis coming from the inside the vehicle. Officers had Mora Morales exit the vehicle and interviewed him. During the interview Mora Morales admitted to having a handgun in his waistband. Mora Morales was arrested and officers recovered a loaded Taurus 9 mm handgun.
Officers searched the vehicle and recovered 35.5 grams of cannabis, a burnt cannabis cigar weighing .5 grams, and three 1000 mg tubes of THC oil.
Mora Morales did not have a FOID Card or a CCL. Mora Morales had a suspended driver's license. Mora Morales was transported to the station and charged.
