Please join 6th Ward Alderman Tom Suffredin and
me for a joint 6th & 7th Ward meeting to discuss and gather your input for
the City's 2019 budget. Our meeting will be held at the Evanston Ecology
Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd., from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tues., June 5.
This year we are undertaking a priority-based
budgeting process, which involves reviewing all programs and services provided
by the City to consider possible changes. City staff have identified some 150
programs and services and ranked them based on a set of metrics.
We are asking residents to consider those
programs that received a lower ranking and to tell us which of them are the
most important and which are the least important. We are also asking residents
to identify other high and low priorities and to offer suggestions of other
ways to balance the City's budget.
Residents can provide their input via an online
survey or on a printed form available at all community centers and Evanston Public
Library locations. Therewill be copies of the survey at our ward meeting on June 5.
In addition to our priority-based budgeting discussion,
we will have a presentation on the City's capital improvements program.
The scoring guidelines and a link to the full list of programs is available here. The direct link to the online survey is available here.
