Survey Seeks Experiences with the Evanston Police Complaint Process
The newly formed Citizen Police Complaint Process Assessment Committee is examining the Evanston Police complaint process. Committee members developed a survey in order to learn about community members' experiences making a complaint regarding the Evanston Police Department, as well as to hear from people who wanted to file a complaint, but did not do so.
The online survey is available in English and Spanish at cityofevanston.org/2018EPDsurvey. Printed surveys are available starting February 13, 2018 at many City of Evanston facilities, including the Morton Civic Center, Evanston Public Library locations, and recreation centers. The survey deadline is Friday, March 9, 2018.

Large Diameter Sewer Rehabilitation Project
The City of Evanston will soon begin rehabilitation of the combined sewer that follows the Mulford Street
right-of-way starting at the southwest corner of James Park and extending west to the North Shore
Channel. The City has contracted with Insituform Technologies
USA, LLC (Insituform) to complete this project.
Insituform’s subcontractor, Sheridan Plumbing and Sewer, will conduct preparatory cleaning and
inspection of the sewer scheduled to begin the week of February 26th, weather permitting. Insituform
intends to complete the sewer rehabilitation in late March 2018. The work will include above-ground
piping and pumps to bypass sewage around the sewer segments that are being rehabilitated. The
pumps will have sound attenuating enclosures to minimize noise overnight.
This project will be monitored and inspected by the City of Evanston. Please direct any questions to
Bridget Nash, Civil Engineer II, at 847-448-8102.
Over the next several weeks, pedestrian crosswalk improvements will be made at the
following locations to improve visibility, calm traffic, and reduce the crossing distance:
Dempster Street at Ashland Avenue, west side
o South Blvd; Forest Avenue, east side; Oakton Street at Dewey Avenue (east leg), west side.
Construction is scheduled begin the week of March, 19 2018, weather permitting.
Although every effort will be made for the contactor to complete the work by end of April,
weather/temperature conditions may require this work to be extended. Where there is a
need, temporary NO PARKING signs will be posted 48 hours prior to the start of work..
City staff will oversee the construction activities. If you have any questions or
concerns, please contact Resident Engineer Bridget Nash at (224) 548-0830.
Questions about the project in general should be directed to Rajeev Dahal, Senior Project
Manager at 3-1-1 or (847) 448-4311.
Composting Service Now Available
Are you concerned about climate change but unsure what you can personally do about it?
Separating out your food scraps so they can be diverted from the landfill is something you can do. Organic material does not biodegrade in landfills, it creates methane, a greenhouse gas 34 times more damaging to our atmosphere than carbon dioxide.
Evanston residents are now eligible to receive food scrap composting service through the City’s exclusive hauler, Collective Resource. Visit the Collective Resource website to learn more about the program and sign up.
