At least 25 percent of slots in each camp session have been reserved for online registration. In-person and phone registration will not be taken on February 17; however, phone support will be available from 8 a.m. to noon by calling 847-448-4311.
Winter HeARTh Art Project Event
Evanston community members are invited to create their own embroidered or painted quilt squares at two upcoming open house events as part of the 2018 Winter HeARTh community art project, “unCovered.”
Winter HeARTh is a collaborative effort sponsored by the Evanston Arts Council that seeks to bring together the residents of Evanston during the cold, isolating winter months to collectively make an art project. Participants in the 2018 project will be prompted to consider what it means to be "covered/uncovered" by their community. They will be able to respond both positively and negatively, and then embroider or paint their answers on the squares.
The first “unCovered,” workday is Sun., Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd. The second workday is Sat., March 10, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Reba Place Church, 620 Madison St. No experience is needed. Participants can drop by one or both events to learn embroidery basics, paint patterns, and participate in the discussion.

You can help a youth dress to impress at the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Job Fair. Please donate new or gently used business attire for youth ages 14 to 18 years old. Donations are being accepted until March 2, at any of the City's community centers and the Morton Civic Center.
Acceptable Items: Dresses, blazers, suits, slacks, collar/button up shirts, ties, belts, stockings and more. All sizes needed: XS to XXL.

Find your perfect summer job at Mayor Hagerty's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair on Sat., March 3, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Evanston Township High School, 1600 Dodge Ave.
In order to be eligible to attend the job fair, you must be enrolled in school; be at least 14 years of age when the program begins on June 11, 2018; and live in ZIP codes 60201 or 60202. Survey Seeks Experiences with the Evanston Police Complaint Process
The newly formed Citizen Police Complaint Process Assessment Committee is examining the Evanston Police complaint process. Committee members developed a survey in order to learn about community members' experiences making a complaint regarding the Evanston Police Department, as well as to hear from people who wanted to file a complaint, but did not do so.
The online survey is available in English and Spanish at cityofevanston.org/2018EPDsurvey. Printed surveys are available starting February 13, 2018 at many City of Evanston facilities, including the Morton Civic Center, Evanston Public Library locations, and recreation centers. The survey deadline is Friday, March 9, 2018.
Composting Service Now Available
Are you concerned about climate change but unsure what you can personally do about it?
Separating out your food scraps so they can be diverted from the landfill is something you can do. Organic material does not biodegrade in landfills, it creates methane, a greenhouse gas 34 times more damaging to our atmosphere than carbon dioxide.
Evanston residents are now eligible to receive food scrap composting service through the City’s exclusive hauler, Collective Resource. Visit the Collective Resource website to learn more about the program and sign up.
