Apply for Senior Citizen Property Tax Exemptions by February 7
Evanston residents 65 years or older should apply for senior citizen property tax exemptions by Wed., Feb 7. Renewal forms were mailed and should have been received during the week of January 8. These forms are the first to reflect new laws that will provide more tax breaks for senior citizens this year. Local seniors should feel free to call the Property Tax Assessment Review Office at 847-448-8168 for help with the forms.
City of Evanston crews will pick up holiday trees through Fri, Jan. 26. Trees will be picked up on the same day of the week as residents’ normal refuse and recycling collection. Trees should be placed on the parkway, in between the street and the sidewalk.
Register for the Spring Citizen Police Academy

you, you’re in luck!
Applications are currently being accepted for the Evanston Police
Department Citizen Police Academy Spring Session. This interactive program is
facilitated by Evanston officers and gives participants a closer look at the department
and policing as it relates to Evanston. The program lasts 13 weeks and meets
Thursday evenings March 1 through May 17, 2018.

Reminder: Get a Flu Shot
The City of Evanston Health & Human Services Department is advising community members that seasonal flu activity has increased across Cook County in recent weeks. It is recommended that everyone over the age of six months get vaccinated. Community members can find locations where flu shots are available at vaccinefinder.org.
Poll Workers Needed for March 20 Primary
Cook County is seeking poll workers to serve in a suburban precinct for the March 20 Gubernatorial Primary. Positions include election judge and equipment manager and will involve assisting voters and ensuring the polling place is running smoothly. Updates to Parking Meters Complete
The City of Evanston’s Parking Division has completed updates to parking meters and pay boxes. Locations that were previously 75 cents per hour are now $1 per hour. The enforcement time in business districts is now uniform, with payment required between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
