Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center Improvements Begin September 18

Over the next 11 weeks, the City of Evanston will be contracting improvements at the Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, located at 1823 Church St. Improvements will include stormwater infrastructure, patio paving, site lighting, site furnishings, and landscaping.

The project will begin the week of September 18 and is expected to be complete by the end of November 2017. The facility will remain open to the public throughout the construction process.

Actual dates when construction is planned within the right-of-way will be noted on temporary “No Parking” signs posted 48 hours prior to the start of the work. Construction activities will create some inconveniences for abutting businesses and residents, but the City will attempt to minimize these issues.

This project is funded through General Obligation Bond proceeds for Capital Improvement Projects and the Sewer Fund.

Contractor
The general contractor for this project is Copenhaver Construction, 75 Koppie Dr., Gilberts, IL.

City Monitoring
The City’s Capital Planning and Engineering Bureau will be responsible for monitoring this project. For questions or concerns during construction, please contact Senior Project Manager Stefanie Levine at 3-1-1 or 847-448-4311.
