Levy Lecture Series September 12
Magnificent Collaboration: Julia Morgan & William Randolph Hearst
Annette Baldwin
On Tuesday, September 12 at 1 p.m., Annette Baldwin will take us on a dramatic visual journey of astonishing talent and personal drive, resulting in an American palace by the sea.
California architect Julia Morgan produced 700 buildings in her 50-year career, more than any other major architect. In spite of her vast output of architectural gems in divergent styles, it is Hearst “Castle” at San Simeon for which she is best known.
The collaboration of Morgan and her inimitable client, William Randolph Hearst, is a remarkable story of an impulsive, over-budget collector and a temperate, brilliant architect, who teamed up to create one of the world’s most elaborate building projects.
The Levy Lecture Series is sponsored by the Levy Senior Center Foundation. Admission is free but registration is required.
National Fortune Cookie Day September 13
On Wednesday, September 13, at 1 p.m., join us in celebrating the creation of the fortune cookie. Help yourself to a handful and enjoy this fun treat!
