"The Secret Life of Pets" at Ryan Field Tonight and "Jumanji" at Penny Park August 1

Starlight Movie at Penny Park


The City's Starlight Movies in the Park series kicks off at 7 p.m. tonight, Thurs., July 20, with The Secret Life of Pets at Ryan Field (gates open at 6:15 p.m.). The series continues through Sat., Aug. 26 in Evanston parks with interactive family activities from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and movies shown at dusk. Jumanji (1995) will be screened at newly renovated Penny Park on Tues., Aug. 1. Admission is free. Movies are canceled in inclement weather.

FJT's "Sweet" on Stage through July 30

Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre's Summertime Season continues with Sweet, by Harrison David Rivers. Sweet is a coming-of-age story about the sacrifices we make to hold on to the ones we love. Performances take place Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. through July 30 at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center.

Starlight Concert July 25 at Mason Park

Lynne Jordan & The Shivers will perform blues, jazz, funk and rock on Tues., July 25 at Mason Park. Interactive family activities will occur from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. Mason Park is located at the intersection of Church Street and Florence Avenue.
