Center multi-purpose room, 2024 McCormick Blvd., for a 7th Ward meeting on Thurs., Sept. 21,
7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Topics on the tentative agenda include Evanston's new Equity Plan,
Evanston Fire Department services, and a preview of the 2018 Sheridan Road
Improvement Project (for Sheridan Road between Lincoln Street and the Wilmette
border).

Drinking Fountain Replacement Update
The drinking fountain at Independence Park is being replaced and should be back in service in time for the parade on Tues., July 4. In McCulloch Park, the meter and other parts of the drinking fountain have been replaced, the water has been tested, and it is safe to turn the fountain on again.
July 4th Festivities and Fireworks!
Enjoy playground activities, a parade, a concert, fireworks and much more on Tues., July 4 as part of the Evanston Fourth of July Association’s Independence Day celebration!
Activities Events will begin at 9 a.m. with roller skating and refreshments at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center and family playground activities at seven locations across the city. Children age 12 years and younger are also invited to take part in a half-mile fun run at 12:45 p.m. at Ackerman Park, located at Central St. and McDaniel Ave. Register online in advance or on race day from noon to 12:30 p.m.
Parade The Evanston 4th of July Parade begins at 2 p.m. on Central St. at Central Park Ave. and travels east to Ryan Field. This year's parade theme is "Evanston's Heroes Are America's Heroes: Our First Responders."
Concert & Fireworks The Palatine Concert Band will perform at Dawes Park from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Lakefront fireworks set to music will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.; tune in to FM 90.5. Fireworks are visible from most lakefront parks.
Evanston Recycles at ETHS July 8
The City's annual "Evanston Recycles"
event will take place on Sat., July 8, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Evanston Township
High School,1600 Dodge Ave. This free "drive up, drop off" event is your opportunity
to recycle a wide variety of items, dispose of old medications, and securely
shred documents.
Cars should enter on Church St., west of
Brown Ave. Follow the signs and remain in your car while City staff members
unload your items.
Central Street Sidewalk Sale July 13-16
Businesses in the 1700 to 2200 blocks of Central St. will offer discounts, food and other delights in this annual north Evanston event. The sidewalk sale will be held Thurs., July 13 and Fri., July 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sat., July 15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and some businesses will extend the sidewalk sale on Sun., July 16, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be live entertainment in Independence Park as well as strolling performers throughout the shopping district.
Movie Night at Ryan Field July 20
Bring the whole family to Ryan Field,1501 Central St., on Thurs., July 20, for a showing of The Secret Life of Pets. The quiet life of a terrier named Max is upended when his owner takes in Duke, a stray whom Max instantly dislikes. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. and the movie begins at 7 p.m. This event is free to the public.

Everyone is invited to NU’s annual Community Picnic! The event is on Sat., July 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Norris University Center's East Lawn, 1999 Campus Dr. Bring the whole family and enjoy free food and entertainment. World Chicago Homestay Program
World Chicago will host over 30
international emerging leaders for short-term educational and cultural exchange programs this summer sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. Groups coming to the
area will include high school students and young professionals. All
participants stay with local families to learn more about American culture.
