The second annual HELPS Conference, hosted by the historic
First Church of God Christian Life Center (FCOGCLC), 1524 Simpson St., will take place June 22- 24.
The HELPS Conference is designed
to provide strength and strategies to those who serve others in our churches
and in our community. These "behind the scenes" heroes often go
unnoticed, but the conference truly celebrates those who faithfully labor to do
good. Nightly services for the conference begin at 7 p.m. and are free
to the public. With registration, participants may also attend the conference's two-day workshops.
The HELPS Conference is the vision of local leader and Pastor Monte' L.G.
Dillard, Sr. of FCOGCLC. All are welcome!
Families
are the backbone of our communities, and celebrating the networks
supporting them demonstrates Evanston's commitment to families. Chicago is leading a new tradition this summer, recognizing a vital
support network that fortifies families. We
encourage you to celebrate godparent
relationships on Sun., July 16, 2017 and share the news throughout your community.
The
role of a godparent is a longstanding, rich tradition, practiced by diverse
communities of faiths, nationalities and countries throughout the
world. Godparents offer practical intersections between faiths, the seeds
of interfaith understanding and acceptance. Ultimately, godparent
relationships create mutual commitments and shared responsibilities for
the spiritual health and well-being of children. We are encouraging the
celebration of godparent relationships with prayer, community
service, charitable giving and dedicated events and gatherings for
godparents, godchildren and families across greater Chicagoland.
