EVANSTON, ILLINOIS -The Kiwanis Club of Evanston will present Fire Captain Guy Boliaux with a Public Safety Award on Tuesday, May 30 at Noon, at the Celtic Knot, 626 Church St., Evanston. This prestigious award recognizes
an outstanding member of the department who, through commitment and
dedication, exemplifies the department's core values of service,
professionalism and tradition in serving the Evanston community.
Over his 21-year
career, Capt. Boliaux has lead several major long-term initiatives
that have had a significant legacy impact on the department. Captain
Boliaux's leadership and continued guidance over the past 14 years helped start
and continually improve the department's first mentoring program. The program
was designed to ensure that our newest candidates are provided the
training and support necessary to be successful long-term members of the
department.
"Captain Boliaux
has a sincere passion for training his brother and sister firefighters and is
always willing to take on the new firefighter and do the extra training and
supervising it takes to show them what right looks like," said Fire Chief
Brian Scott.
Captain Boliaux’s passion
also has motivated him to lead several important training programs, including
most recently, a three-day joint program he spearheaded with the Skokie Fire
Department. This program provided both departments with the necessary advanced
skills to effectively operate as members of a rapid intervention team in order
to rescue firefighters trapped or incapacitated on the emergency scene.
"The Evanston Fire Department will always
remain a first-rate organization with members like Captain
Boliaux stepping up and doing the extra work it takes in making the
Evanston Fire Department such a special place to work and serve," said Fire Chief Brian Scott
