I hope this newsletter finds you well. Please join me for our next 2nd Ward meeting on Thursday, June 8,6:30 p.m., at Fire Station 1,1332 Emerson St.  Please note the change in time and location.  Ward meetings are your opportunity to share concerns and discuss issues that impact our ward and the greater community. Next month We have an opportunity meet the staff, tour the ground level and enjoy a light meal.

Memorial Day Holiday Weekend Service Schedules

The City of Evanston announces facility closures and service schedules for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29.

Penny Park Rededication Ceremony, May 27

Penny Park


Please join me on Saturday, May 27 at 12 noon for the Penny Park rededication ceremony. Penny Park is located at 1500 Lake St. Free hot dogs, chips and water will follow.  


2nd Ward Meeting Time and Location Change, June 8

The next 2nd Ward meeting will be held on Thursday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Evanston Fire Station 1,1332 Emerson Rd. for a fire station meet and greet with our firefighters. Free hot dogs and pop will be provided.


Neighborhood Meeting, June 1

Please join me on Thursday, June 1 at 6:30 p.m at the intersection of Grove St. and Fowler Ave. to discuss speeding issues on Grove between Mcdaniel Ave. and Pitner Ave. City staff will also be present. In case of rain, the meeting will be rescheduled. 


Robert Crown Project Neighborhood Meeting, June 1

The City of Evanston will host a second neighborhood meeting to gather input for the planned replacement of the Robert Crown Community Center. The meeting will take place Thursday, June 1, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Robert Crown Community Center gymnasium, located at 1701 Main St, in Evanston.

Consultants Woodhouse Tinucci Architects and City of Evanston staff will present the following:

  • Preliminary design ideas
  • Next steps

Evanston Sings Community Choir Concert, June 16

Evanston Own It will host its third annual “Evanston Sings” community choir concert on Friday, June 16, 7 p.m., at the Evanston Township High School Auditorium, 1600 Dodge Ave. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the door or at Ebony Barbershop or Church Street Barbershop.  All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Evanston Summer Youth Program. 


Career Workshop for Veterans, July 25

On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, Northwestern University will host a career workshop for veterans at Norris University Center, 1999 Campus Dr. The workshop will focus on resume writing, interviewing skills, how to network with key contacts, learn how to translate military experience into a civilian job, and learn about working for Northwestern. More details to come. This event is sponsored by Northwestern’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Access, Office of Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion.
