Citywide Asphalt Pavement Patching to Begin April 17

The City of Evanston will patch large areas of asphalt pavement across the city beginning the week of April 17, 2017. The work is expected to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting. View a map of 2017 patching locations.

The work will improve the condition of 26,000 square yards of pavement at 123 locations around the city. Patching crews will remove the top two inches of asphalt pavement from large areas of distressed pavement with potholes and replace the removed pavement with a fresh, smooth asphalt surface. After completing each location, the street will be immediately ready for traffic.

Drivers should expect short delays in specific work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. “No Parking” restrictions will be short in duration and specific to each work area. The work in each location will take about an hour to complete; however, there are some locations where larger areas need to be resurfaced, requiring more time.

Funding for the project is from the City’s Capital Improvement Fund.
