‘Stories in Images & Words’ Exhibition on Display at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center April 6 – May 24
EVANSTON, ILLINOIS - Community members are invited to view “Stories in Images
& Words,” an art and poetry exhibition on display in the Noyes Cultural
Arts Center’s 2nd floor gallery, 927 Noyes St., from Thursday, April
6 through Wednesday, May 24. Featured
artists include Susan Gundlach and Lea Basile Lazarus.
An opening reception will be held on Sunday, April 9, from 2
p.m. to 5 p.m. Light
refreshments will be served. Musical entertainment will be provided by Evanston
Township High School, featuring the jazz trio of Jonah Karsh on piano, Joey
Bonansinga on bass, and Evynne Stitely on drums.
Susan
Gundlach’s poetry is a mixed-media assemblage of words, memories, observations,
and questions. Her reflections on neighborhood goings-on, seasonal rhythms,
personal or fictional moments, or the why’s and what-if’s of existence elegantly
unfurl in her poems.
Lea
Basile Lazarus’ artwork is inspired by forms in nature, the human form, and
man-made architectural shapes. Through contemporary printmaking techniques, she
combines shapes, colors, and textures with shadows and other photographic
images to create visual moments. Together these elements create a unified and
meaningful composition.
Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7
p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
