Summer Youth Job Fair this Saturday!

MSYEP 2016 job fair


Evanston youth age 14 to 18 years can line up their perfect summer job at Mayor Tisdahl's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair this Sat., March 11, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at ETHS. Employers include the City of Evanston, Northwestern University, Target, Best Buy, Six Flags Great America, and many more! Doors close at noon.

Winter HeARTh "Talking Trees" March 19

Talking Trees


Warm up with friends, family and community members to help create a public art installation in downtown Evanston on Sun., March 19! Family-friendly activities, crafts and inspiring stories will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the main Evanston Public Library, followed by music, sketching and more at Celtic Knot Public House from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Evanston Celebrates International Women's Day

More than 100 Women of Evanston Business Owners gathered at Found Kitchen on Wed., March 8 to support and recognize International Women’s Day! Joining them were Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, 3rd Ward Ald. Melissa Wynne, 8th Ward Ald. Ann Rainey, and Economic Development staff. The event was organized by Hewn.


"The Officer & Gentlemen Academy" Kicks Off

On March 4, the Evanston Police Department and Evanston/Skokie School District 65 kicked off “The Officer & Gentlemen Academy,” a 12-week pilot program designed to educate, inspire and empower young men in middle school to reach their full potential. In addition to teaching practical skills, such as how to tie a necktie, mentoring will include improving communication between law enforcement and youth to create positive encounters.
