Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program Job Fair March 11

Evanston youth age 14 to 18 years can find their perfect summer job at Mayor Tisdahl's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) Job Fair on Sat., March 11, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at ETHS! The Youth Job Center is hosting three upcoming Resume & Interview Skills Workshops to help students prepare.

Town Hall with Mayor Tisdahl February 21

Join Mayor Tisdahl for a Town Hall Meeting on Tues., Feb. 21, at 7 p.m., at the Levy Senior Center. Mayor Tisdahl and City staff will discuss issues of interest, including the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program (MSYEP) and workforce development, public safety, and the Robert Crown Community Center Project. An open discussion will follow.

Street Cleaning Season Begins March 1

Street cleaning begins on Wed., March 1. New parking signs installed in 2016 at the beginning and end of each block indicate the specific days and times that parking restrictions are in place (i.e. First Thursday of Month, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.). The City also offers convenient text message and email notifications to remind you to move your vehicle. Sign up online or call/text 847-448-4311.

Part 1 Crimes Down 7.2 Percent in 2016

The Evanston Police Department has released the city's Part 1 crime statistics for 2016. Part I crimes were down 7.2 percent compared to 2015, which equated to 141 fewer victims.

Le Tour de Noir and Business Expo February 25

Enjoy a tour of Black-owned Evanston businesses followed by a free business expo at the Levy Center on Sat., Feb. 25! Sample food, enjoy entertainment, and learn about products and services. The tour begins at 1 p.m. followed by the expo from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Ecology Center Indoor Farmers' Market 2/18

Shop for local goods and fresh produce at the Evanston Ecology Center's Winter Indoor Farmers' Market this Sat., Feb. 18, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Register for 'Cats Come to Dinner 3/3-3/5

Share a home-cooked meal with local students as part of Northwestern University Associated Student Government's 'Cats Come to Dinner program! The seasonal event will take place March 3-5.

6th Ward Meeting 2/23

Ald. Mark Tendam will host a 6th Ward meeting on Thurs., Feb. 23, 7 p.m., at Three Crowns Park.

Get Tips to Weatherize Your Home at Free Workshops

Citizens' Greener Evanston is offering free workshops and do-it-yourself tips to reduce drafts at home: Wed., Feb. 22, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Levy Center and Fri., Feb. 24, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center.

Reminder: First Installment Property Taxes Due 3/1

The City’s Property Tax Assessment Review Office reminds residents that first installment property tax bills for tax year 2016 are due by Wed., March 1. Please contact the office with any questions.
