Getting Healthy with Oak Street Health (Part 1)

This Wed., Feb. 8, at 11 a.m., attend the first of a two-part interactive free workshop series, “Getting Healthy with Oak Street Health.” The series is designed to help you make healthy food choices and be in better health and better shape.

Part 1: “Healthy Eating” highlights the right food choices to make, how to read nutritional food labels, and the right quantities of food to enjoy. Part 2 will be Wed., March 8. Wake Up with Makeup February 8

Diane Steinmetz is a certified makeup artist and carries her own line of DS Cosmetics makeup. She'll demonstrate easy makeup tips; products may be purchased afterwards with her guidance. Memory Project: Word & Image February 8, 15

Seniors have many years of rich memories. Visually representing a memory can enliven the mind and capture that moment in time. Working with paint, magazine cut-outs and photos, as well as poems or words, "Memory Project: Word & Image" program participants will create a collaged work of art (or a series of works) to be cherished. Bring your ideas and photos or copies of photos; all other supplies provided. This is a free program, but registration is required. Please call 847-448-8250 or visit the Levy Center's front desk. This program will be offered on Wed., Feb. 8, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and Wed., Feb. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.


Cyber Hacking and Spying Presentation February 15

On Wed., Feb. 15 at 10 a.m., DePaul University Professor Richard Farkas will visit the Levy Center to conduct a presentation and discussion on cyber hacking and spying. For more information, call the Levy Center at 847-448-8250.

Enjoy an amazing performance by magician Greg Whalen on Fri., Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. Greg is a full-time professional entertainer with a Masters of Fine Arts degree in Theatre and over 20 years of experience performing magic and comedy. On Fri., Feb. 24 at 2 p.m., enjoy a presentation from American Classic Tours about upcoming tours. It's also National Tortilla Chip Day, so we'll have tortilla chips, salsa and guacamole afterwards.

North Shore Memory Café Grand Opening March 3

The North Shore Memory Café is a monthly social gathering for individuals in early stage memory loss. The Café will meet the first Friday of every month, beginning Fri., March 3, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., in the Levy Center Library. Care partners and loved ones are also welcome to attend.

Each session will include time for open socialization, as well as a group enrichment activity. Our March Café will feature an engaging session with board certified music therapist Rebecca Froman. The Café is a grassroots collaboration between local citizens, the City of Evanston, and community partners, including CJE SeniorLife, Renewal Care, and the Chicago Center for Cognitive Wellness.

The Café is free and open to the public, but registration is required. For more information and to register, please call 312-273-9000 ext. 8.
